COVID-19

A page dedicated to the ongoing situation.

We are working hard to continue to provide services to the local community. Our building remains closed to the general public and we have strict rules in place to protect our staff and customers.

Please bear with us during this time if you are trying to contact us, we are very busy and may not get your call first time, leave a message and we will respond you to you as soon as we can.

Meeting Rooms
We are now accepting bookings for meetings and groups of up to 6 people which are not for the purpose of social gatherings, this is due to an update in the guidance on 14th September which you can read here. You can also view the guidance for meeting with others safely. Whilst we are resuming bookings, we are not providing refreshments or access to certain services. Please contact Claire on 01289 303366 to discuss your booking or if you have any queries about an existing booking. A Covid-19 induction will be required to ensure you understand how we are currently operating our room usage processes.

Berwick Food Bank/Here for You
Berwick Food Bank is operating slightly differently, we are aiming at supporting all members of the local community with food support, there is no set criteria for this assistance and anyone can access it. We are receiving good stocks of food from public donations as well as weekly support from Morrisons. The hours of operation are:

Monday – Friday 9.15am – 4.15pm

To access food support, we ask that you ring the office number, 01289 303366 where a member of staff will take a few details and process a form over the telephone, if you prefer we can call you back. You will be given a time slot to collect your parcel or local delivery will be arranged if collection not possible. Please ring the doorbell on arrival and follow the social distancing rules at all times, by standing 2 metres away from the door.

Here for You is also operational although on a telephone or email basis only , CV updates can be done over the phone and via email, again we can call you back to do this, we can assist with benefit enquiries and claims via telephone. If a member of the Here for You team is not available they will contact you at the next available opportunity.

We are working closely with a number of organisations in outlying areas, such as Wooler, Seahouses, Holy Island and Duns, providing food, Parcels and sharing our knowledge. Over the last 14 weeks we have distributed food to these organisations and others such as Bellview at Belford, Berwick Youth Project for some of their residents, they also distributed some stocks to front line workers, Sheltered housing schemes and care homes in Berwick upon Tweed.

Donating
If you would like to donate to us to support our ongoing activities then you can online via our Local Giving Donation Platform. This is for general donations, if you would specifically like your donation to go a particular service or our running costs then PLEASE leave a comment with your donation.

Food can be donated directly to the William Elder Building following our Social Distancing Guidelines. There are also drop off points at Asda, Tweedmouth and Morrisons, Berwick.
