Berwick Community Trust is a charity working to develop and regenerate Berwick upon Tweed for the good of all residents.
Berwick Community Trust was established in 2004 with the mission to secure a prosperous and vibrant Berwick-upon-Tweed.
It is a charity that works exclusively for the benefit of the town through a broad programme of projects and services. It does this through continuous investment in its people and properties. It is involved in initiatives as diverse as supporting Berwick’s public nursery provision to delivering major regeneration schemes.
To enable the Trust to do its work it draws grant funding from foundations, local and central government. It also derives additional sustainable income from a wind turbine partnership, the management of social projects and the letting of offices and space at its home in the William Elder Building on Castlegate.
The Trust has grown to become a major employer within the town with its work conducted by a combination of employed staff and volunteers. Currently there are 18 full time equivalent employees with a total of 31 on the payroll.
The Berwick Community Trust actively welcomes ideas and investment opportunities that can help achieve its objective.
To date the Trust has invested over £3 million in Berwick.
