Leave us a gift in your will
Have you considered donating to charity when you die? You could donate/gift a sum of money to Berwick Community Trust as a legacy gift in your Will, this gift will allow us to continue with all the good work and services that we provide in Berwick upon Tweed.
The people of Berwick upon Tweed that we support will continue to benefit from us being able to sustain the delivery of the vital services that we do to support the people in our town. These donations can be made anonymously, alternatively we can publish our thanks for your generosity.
If you would like to speak to us about leaving a gift in your will to any of our services then please contact us, discretion is guaranteed.
What Is A Legacy Gift?
A legacy gift, sometimes known as planned giving is a gift to a charity or non-profit organisation that you can leave in your Will. It can be a piece of property, cash, or a percentage of your estate. Legacy gifts play a key role in supporting many charities, yet many people don’t know that they’re an option, how they are paid out, or the tax benefits of these gifts.
These donations are a very efficient way of donating to charity as the charitable donation does not count toward the taxable value of an individual’s estate. If you gift 10% or more than the net value of your estate, then the amount of Inheritance Tax payable is reduced. Please seek advice if you would like to donate this way.
While legacy giving makes it possible to leave much larger gifts, it’s important to remember that you don’t have to have a lot of money to leave a legacy gift. You can leave as much or as little as you want – there is no gift too small. You can also take advantage of Free Wills Month, which is available 2 months per year, March & October, speak to any local solicitors to find out more information and to see if they are involved in the scheme.
