On Wednesday 28th October Cllr Georgina Hill formally pressed ‘Go’ on breaking ground at the Old Brewery site in Tweedmouth where we are saving this listed heritage building by breathing new life into it redeveloping it into artists workshops, a teaching space and a gallery. The cost of this ambitious project is £900,000, with almost £700K already found work continues by the team to meet the target. ‘This is a really exciting project for the town and will make a huge difference to the building and the opportunities locally’ said Cllr Hill. Andrea Oliver replied, ‘This will be a flagship facility in the North which we, at the Creative and Cultural Zone, are proud to support’. Mattwood Development Ltd, local contractors, start work now with an ambition of completing late Spring 2026. ‘We are delighted with the public support and the interest of funders to finally have a new vibrant purpose for this listed building.
